“How To” Lockdown Correctly: Tips and Tricks for Survival.

Welcome to Ontario’s third official lockdown. My first experience with the lockdown was probably similar to a lot of you. Being uncertain about what was happening around me, I didn’t take advantage of the time off I had. I had all this time to create new hobbies, work on things I put off for a while but I spent it in front of my laptop; not blogging but rather watching TV.

While doing nothing what we normally lean towards when we have time off, it isn’t the most ideal thing to do for a 28 day lockdown. I get that we are tired from our everyday lives and that a “stay-at-home” order allows us to put our feet us and relax, but lets remember that productivity makes the time fly by.

  1. Read a good book: I have 31 novels in my library that I am dying to reread. I know I wont get through them all in the next 28 days but they are there screaming at me to pick them up. I have genres from romance-fiction to historical-fiction based around WWII.
    What is on your bookshelf?
  2. Watch a food show: Netflix and Prime Video will be my best friends during this lockdown. Its not totally frowned upon to curl up on the couch and binge a TV show or two, just make sure you dont turn into a couch potato. I know that there are going to be a few series that I will be going to binge myself.
  3. The new additions to Netflix this January:
    -Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
    -Superbad (2007)
    -Sherlock Holmes (2009)
-Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
    -Sightless (2020)
  4. Go out for a walk: We need to remember to not be total couch potatoes during this lockdown. We are allowed to go out for exercise so take advantage of the down time you have to go out and enjoy this very mild winter. This happens to be an activity that I need to do more. Being cooped up in this apartment could very well drive me mad.
  5. Learn something new: There are so many resources online to develop your knowledge. You have all the time in the world to read up and learn new things or just develop yourself as an individual. I am going to take the time to broaden my knowledge on leadership and develop myself. This will sound cheesey, but it is my New Year New Me plan.

So let’s all do a little more for ourselves this lockdown. Make it more enjoyable by focusing on what you want to do and not what you cannot do. Just remember, we need to stay healthy and safe but that doesn’t mean stay bored.
